Laptops Electrocuting People?

Posted in Uncategorized by Pete on January 20, 2015

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop running Windows Vista that I still use, along with my new Acer C720 Chromebook that I’m working from at this moment (which I really like).  The Toshiba has been electrocuting me.  At first I just thought I was getting a static shock every time I worked on my computer, but it keeps going as I sit in a chair for extended periods of time.  For several months I have been suspicious and unsure what was going on, but the pain started to get more significantj, and I’ve been more and more careful where I put my fingers while working, until the other day while working until 4 am on some paperwork for my job my thumb started to seriously hurt.  It was tingling and the pain and tingling wasn’t going away for hours after leaving the computer.  It was coming from below the touch pad area as well as from the ports on the left side of the computer, and possibly from the area around the ctrl key.

I finally googled this to see if anyone else has experienced it, and what do you know – lots of people have.  There are more reports that I didn’t link to, but you get the idea.  I have some equipment for measuring electric current and I’m going to see if I can find the spots on the computer that I have been touching, and see just how much current we are talking about.  Weird.
